Festival Film Bahari is designed to give insight and knowledge all about coastal culture and sea life through films. Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country with the second longest coastal line in the world, rich with various natural resources. The population of Indonesian itself is the fifth largest over the world with 220 million people and 60 percents among them live in coastal area. The coastal society forms its own identity as a unique entity with cultural values differ from other areas. One characteristic is plurality. Throughout history, coastal area has become a place to witness people pass by doing trade and any kinds of maritime activities. It makes the people in coastal area is more tolerate to differences such as ethnicity and religion. As limitless as the horizon, sea and its surroundings offer us many things to learn and immerse ourselves in.

Thus, Festival Film Bahari creates several programs aim to capture and raise awareness of the coastal environment. August 2019 is the second year of this festival to be held, located in a small fisherman village of Cirebon city, West Java, Indonesia. Festival Film Bahari is also youth-based film festival that offers young filmmakers a chance to enhance their critical thinking skills, showcase their work to a captive audience, and engage experienced learning with local communities.

A. PELAJAR REKAM PESISIR 2019: National Student Short Film Competition

1. Eligible filmmakers must be Indonesian high school students or youth at 16 – 18 years old at the time of filming.
2. Films must be 10-minutes or less in length including opening and credit title.
3. Submission deadline is 1 June 2019.
4. There are 2 categories:
BAHARI
Fiction / Documenter / Experimental
Films that has strong story telling about sea or coastal life.
BINEKA
Fiction / Documenter / Experimental
Films that has story telling about diversity or tolerance.
5. Production year of 2014-2019.
6. Applicants could send more than one films in different categories.
7. Films that have local language must provide Indonesian subtitle.
8. All music and copyrighted material used in films must be properly licensed.
9. Applicants could submit the film linking to You Tube, Google Drive or Dropbox.

B. FESTIVAL FILM BAHARI OFFICIAL SELECTION 2019

FESTIVAL FILM BAHARI OFFICIAL SELECTION is a Non- Competition Program for worldwide filmmakers, prepared with Indonesia subs and scheduled for live screenings during the festival date; 16 – 18 August 2019. Please aware that most of the festival’s programs are free & open for public (with age rating guides). Selected films will be awarded digital ceritificate and laurel. The duration of the films is maximum 10 minutes including credit title, all genres accepted.

We seek films that talk about:
1. BAHARI (Sea / maritime / coastal life), or,
2. BINEKA (Diversity / tolerance)
