The Feet Stuff video is a brief glimpse inside the bright beginnings of a budding queer romance. Corook approached me to collaborate on this video and our initial concept was “a big queer party of real queer people who look like us.” Through the process we developed the storyline of Corook meeting a girl (performed by Corook’s real life partner and fellow musician Olivia Barton) at this party. We wanted to include as many queer and femme voices on our production team and we sought out queer bodies to perform. Our creative team put so much effort towards representation behind and in front of the camera. The results: we created an honest depiction of a queer love story without fetishizing/sexualizing queer bodies. Queerness defines itself out of LGBTQA+ folx’s struggles - we wanted to create a video depicting happiness and joy. This is a video about queer love, not gay sex, or stereotypes about lesbians - no U-hauls here! I look at my friend Corook and couldn’t be more thrilled that her music and image is gaining traction in the music industry. This video is a celebration of her and her musical journey. I feel it’s an accurate and encompassing celebration - that includes every ounce of heart and soul she offers to the world. I hope our video makes you smile and hopeful about the power of true love. For all the little queer kids watching, I hope you see yourself and feel welcomed to this wild world - for you deserve the love you seek for yourself in this life.
