F*ck Your Film

On the ten year anniversary of her dad’s death, a jaded twenty-something in Los Angeles reflects on the absurdity of content creation; she’d rather end her own life than make a short film about death. But is she serious? A twisted look at content... and why we make it. #DontWaitCreate

Writer Statement

F*CK YOUR FILM is a dark comedic parody that makes fun of, challenges, and discredits – as well as ultimately celebrates – the art of the short film.

As a comedian and grief activist who uses humor to help people cope with their pain, I believe in the power of promoting freedom through film. In this short, this concept is explored both ironically and literally.

I grew up with two sick parents; at age 8 my parents were diagnosed with ALS & breast cancer. My dad died of ALS when I was 19, and my mom -- who lost her own mother to leukemia at 19 -- currently combats stage IV metastatic breast cancer, which returned after 17 years in remission. But don't worry... cancer is not my whole personality. Just my whole DNA!

I spent the pandemic producing viral short-form comedic grief content for BuzzFeed. I am ready to explore these topics & themes through an artistic short film specifically.

By making this comedic film about art, death, and content creation, I hope to inspire others to promote their own projects and ideals through film specifically.

The end of the short is a comedic musical rap about content creation: “Don’t wait, create.” Because #YODO, you only die once! Ultimately... f*ck your film, because "life is (a) short."
