Director Biography - José Salvador Toj

Salvador Toj, of K'iche' (Maya) origin, grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Guatemala. At the age of 13, a group of French people come to his neighborhood to make a documentary and he becomes interested from that experience.

Due to few resources, Salvador did not go to university, however, his desire to learn made him look for different ways.

Director Statement

FatFlava, BeatMaker and MC from zone 18 of the Capital City of Guatemala, Central America. He started in 2004 as a beatmaker and became a member of the group Poesía Callejera in 2008, formed by the Mcs: FatFlava and Psycho. The group was born in one of the areas considered by the National Civil Police (PNC) to be the most dangerous in Guatemala City (in one month more than five homicides, armed robberies, rape or kidnapping are committed).

FatFlava in Poesía Callejera has made 3 albums with the special participation of: Ald2 from the group Los Aldeanos, Sobredosis el Lirico, Andrea Ayala etc. Freestyle runner-up at the Redbull Batalla de los Gallos 2008 and beatmaker champion at the Redbull Batalla de los Gallos 2012, both championships were obtained in Guatemala City. As a Beatmaker, he has important collaborations for songs such as: “Bienvenido a mi barrio” by the Mexican Aczino, “2015” by the Cuban Rxnde Akozta, “Colombianos worldwide” by the Colombians Piel Roja, Gambeta and Ali Aka Mind, “Hijo De Puta” by the Argentinian Fianru, the “Cypher Effect Fuego 1” of the Colombian Spektra de la Rima, among others.
