Illusion is in the nature of the perception of moving images. That is what I always try to keep in mind whenever I think about the capacities of this medium.
Montreal-based video artist Farid Yahaghi has been honing his experimental filmmaking skills for the past several years. Originally a graphic design artist, Farid blended his filmmaking skills with his twenty years of experience in visual communication and animation.
His evolution into video installation allowed him to introduce his still image-based films to larger spaces and interactive installations. Farid’s works often challenge the technical capacities of the representation of time/movement. He utilizes his animation and video editing skills to blur the boundaries between the experience of watching the still and the moving image. His visual approach to filmmaking allows his works to deal with questions such as displacement, time perception, and immediacy.
