In the post-pandemic era, in 2023, China will see 12 million university graduates stepping into society. Since August 2023, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics has stopped publishing the youth unemployment rate. Many young people, facing pressures from both within and outside their families, are feeling anxious and overwhelmed by various uncertainties, leading them to lose the courage to confront the future.

Families reflect the society they live in. The Wan Ying family, spanning three generations, navigates through the challenges brought by the times and society. Despite their desire for change, they find themselves entangled in invisible forces, thwarting their intentions. Confronted with worsening economic conditions, individuals and families alike are engulfed by a deep sense of powerlessness, pushing them into a helpless predicament.
