Director Biography - Dominique Fumeaux

Dominique Fumeaux studied literature at the University of Lausanne, before turning cameraman and cinematographer. He is self-employed since 2010, and has filmed, edited, and produced a flurry of audiovisual works, corporate movies, ads, and TV-related projects. He then made a lateral move into the world of cinema, in which he has deepened his cinematographical skills as he shot one or the other project. He follows classes at the School of Cinema and Television of Québec (ECTQ) in 2015 to perfect his abilities in the direction of photography. As a director of photography, he favors contrasts, allying lighting with dark and fantastical universes.

The same types of atmospheres inhabit the projects on which he works as director. Alongside his work in image creation, he also directs and writes. He worked on many music videos for different bands. His 2016 short-film “Consumation” is awarded several prizes at international festivals. In 2019, he is selected as the emerging director for the event “Face to Face”, organised by Fonction Cinéma. The Canton of Valais (Switzerland), in partnership with Association Valais Films, funds in 2021 the development of his short film “Tu ne tueras point maman”. He has resolutely focused on his work as writer and director of fiction in recent years.

He further expresses his creativity in the fields of photography and music. His works reveal a dark aestheticism, which he instils with ecological and libertarian touches, linked to his fundamental values.
