Family
"A person’s identity is defined by their soul. The identity of a town is defined by the people who inhabit it - they embody its soul. Nermina, a Bosniak, and Marinko, a Serb, have been married for 35 years. They have returned to Srebrenica, a town in the northeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their 35-year union has been blessed with five children. Despite difficult circumstances, they managed to maintain their marriage. While Marinko and Nermina dream of pre-war Srebrenica, a bustling town with a thriving economy, they are living the same reality as their parents did 30 years ago. But this time in peace. They pay the price of living together in a town with a turbulent past and are forced to send their youngest son away from Srebrenica, having already bid farewell to their four older children."

Davorin Sekulić is a photographer currently residing in Sarajevo. He was born on June 7, 1989, in Srebrenica, where he completed his high school education. He then moved to Sarajevo, where he graduated from the School of Photography and also completed the CISCO Academy. In 2011, he was hired by the leading Bosnian portal Klix.ba as a photojournalist and cameraman. He continues to work for this media outlet today, where, in addition to his role as the photo editor, he is also a video producer at Klix Studio.
Throughout his more than a decade of work in the media, and involvement in numerous stories, the idea of directing a documentary film emerged in 2020. This led to the creation of the documentary film Džemo, which won the hearts of audiences at the AJB DOC Festival and went on to have a successful festival run. In early 2024, he directed a short documentary about Dževad Karahasan, which was presented in Austria during a ceremony where the Bosnian writer was posthumously awarded the Fritz Csoklich Democratic Award.
The latest film by Davorin is the documentary Family, which had its premiere in 2024 at the 7th edition of AJB DOC in Sarajevo. It is a genre drama that, through the story of his own family, also portrays the fate of the author’s hometown, Srebrenica.
