"False Paradise"
“False Paradise” is centred around the illusions of reality and how our own beliefs can work against us. The storyline conveys that even a supposed safe place (e.g., family) can corrupt you viciously if you do not notice and act against them. Through the main character’s (Remy) unfortunate outcome at the end, this piece focuses on the highly negative case of such a theme. Portrayed as a little boy in his unconscious realm trying to get back to his family at all cost, Remy’s parents’ voices place in him a false sense of security, which ultimately causes his disastrous fate. The theme of death is presented metaphorically with the death of Remy’s true self and being replaced with the child that his parents always desired. Discomfort, achieved through sound design, is the emotion that reflects the story’s true nature. MOCAP (courtesy of MOVE.ai) was utilized as the main method to allow Remy to have natural movements to better deliver the animation’s message.
