Christian Fink-Irizarry was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and grew up in North East, Pennsylvania. While growing up in North East, his love of movies stemmed from weekly family movie nights. In high school, he discovered his passion for writing and photography by becoming an unofficial yearbook photographer and writing scripts and short stories. His passion in photography eventually bled into ambition for filmmaking. Senior year he even took his jab at acting and after auditioning for the first time, landed the role of Gaston in his school's production of Beauty and the Beast. After graduating from North East High School in 2016 he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves as a Mass Communications Specialist.
Christian went through training and was an Honor Graduate in his class from the Defense Information School. During his time at DINFOS, he applied and was accepted to the Savannah College of Art and Design for Film/TV. His time at SCAD started slowly, working as a grip and PA for many student productions where he eventually used his photography talents to become a behind-the-scenes photographer. As a BTS photographer, he was on many sets and really observed everyone's unique role in the film production process while helping out however he could.
Christian is slated to graduate from SCAD in 2021 and start production on his first feature film that summer.
After the script being developed for close to 2 years, Fading finally came to fruition. It was always Christian’s intention to tell a decline of relationship story through selective color and orbs of light that represent love. He felt those would be powerful visuals to communicate the emotions most people have felt in the midst of a breakup and bad relationships.
Having to adapt to a pandemic, Christian managed to find a way to tell the intimate story in one location, which helped enhance the intimacy of the story and ease the burden of production. With a talented team of people eager to bring the story to life, "Fading" marks the final chapter for filmmakers Christian Fink-Irizarry and Timothy Kandra, as this is their senior capstone project.
