FunFest - International Video Festival (Madeira Island)

For eligibility purposes of the vídeo projects, the following terms and conditions must be fully respected:

I - TARGET AUDIENCE
a) The FUNFEST Festival is exclusively aimed at students, either living in Portugal or around the world. Students must attend:

- Secondary Education (10th, 11th or 12th grade), or Professional Schools of an equivalent degree;

- Universities.

b) Students can participate individually, or form teams of up to ten members;

c) Students must be enrolled in an educational establishment, in the school year 2024/2025 (from 1st September to 30th May);

d) A director cannot submit more than one video/short film;

e) Other people, of any age, students or not, may participate in the video/short film but only a student must represent it.

II – SCHEDULE, DEADLINES AND APPLICATION FORM
a) The FUNFEST contest will take place during the school year 2024/2025, from November to May:

- From 15th November 2024 to 2nd February 2025 – National and International submissions must be done via FilmFreeway. The registration is totally FREE;

- 11th April 2025 - All finalist will be notified;

- 8th May 2025 - Ceremony Award (screening of the finalist videos/short films and winners’ announcement).

III – ABOUT THE VIDEOS
a) This year, the videos should reflect on “Culture, Science and Technology". The main topic is “Digital Narratives: Artistic Expressions in the New Millennium”;

b) Videos/short films cannot exceed 8 minutes and should be in MP4 or MOV format (including the final credits list);

c) The festival accepts all types of genres (fiction, documentary, animation, video clip (song), experimental...);

d) Incomplete or “work in progress” videos/short films are not accepted;

e) Once the videos/short films are submitted to the festival, more information may be required by e-mail, if needed, such as:

- Personal information about the participant(s) (name, age and school);
- A still image of the video;
- A Synopsis (maximum 400 characters with spaces);
- A student card ID, or any official school document, stating that, at least, one participant is enrolled in an educational establishment.

f) Videos/short films whose students don’t send the documents above will not be viewed or considered for the festival;

g) Videos with narratives, texts or dialogues in languages other than Portuguese must have Portuguese or English subtitles;

h) The festival will not accept videos which contain or transmit any message that violates the fundamental rights and freedom of human beings, as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;

i) Participants guarantee the authorship of their work and assume full responsibility and all risks arising from third parties’ complaints regarding copyright;

i) By submitting the videos/short films, participants grant the rights to exhibit their work to the festival organization, as well as authorize the use of the images, either in part or in full;

j) The selected videos/short films will be evaluated by a jury committee formed by professionals involved in the cinema industry or in multimedia projects, under the following evaluation criteria:

- Adequacy to the festival goals;
- Effectiveness of the message (storyboard/acting/performance,…);
- Originality and creativity;
- Esthetic quality (photography, shots and camera positions,...);
- Technical quality (image and sound edition,…).

k) A score from 1 to 5 will be given to each evaluation criterion as follows:
1 - Inadequate
2 - Poor
3 - Satisfactory
4 - Good
5 - Very Good/Excellent

l) The videos/short films with the best results (finalists) will be screened at the final event;

m) Any claim regarding the jury decisions will not be accepted.

IV - FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
a) The festival reserves the right to change any term or condition of the festival rules;

b) The submission to the International Video Contest - FUNFEST implies the acceptance of the terms and conditions as defined above, as well as the consent regarding the processing of the participants' personal data;

d) The festival managers are fully entitled to deal or solve with any omitted cases in these rules and terms.

Para fins de elegibilidade dos projetos de vídeo, os seguintes termos e condições devem ser integralmente respeitados:

I - PÚBLICO ALVO
a) O concurso FUNFEST destina-se exclusivamente a alunos residentes em Portugal, bem como a alunos de todo o mundo, que frequentem o ensino secundário ou profissional de grau equivalente, bem como universidades;

b) Os alunos podem participar individualmente ou formar equipas até dez elementos;

c) Os alunos deverão estar matriculados num estabelecimento de ensino, no ano letivo 2023«4/2025. O cartão de estudante, ou um documento escolar comprovando esse facto, será exigido pela organização do concurso;

d) Um realizador não pode enviar mais de um vídeo;

e) Podem participar num ou mais projetos outras pessoas, de todas as idades, alunos ou não. Em caso de prémio, este será apenas entregue ao aluno que represente a equipa.

II - CRONOGRAMA, PRAZOS E FORMULÁRIO DE INSCRIÇÃO
a) O concurso FUNFEST irá decorrer durante o ano letivo 2024/2025.

b) A data para envio de filmes realizados fora da região é de 15 de novembro de 2024 a 2 de fevereiro de 2024 - As inscrições devem ser feitas através da plataforma FilmFreeway. A inscrição é totalmente GRATUITA!

c) 8 de maio de 2025 - Divulgação dos vencedores, exibição dos vídeos dos finalistas e entrega de prémios.

III - SOBRE OS VÍDEOS
a) Os trabalhos submetidos deverão refletir sobre “Cultura, Ciência e Tecnologia”. Assim, o tema que se propõe é “Narrativas Digitais: expressões artísticas no novo milénio”;

b) Os vídeos deverão respeitar a duração máxima de 8 minutos (incluindo a ficha técnica), e devem ser enviados no formato MP4 ou MOV;

c) O festival aceita qualquer género (ficção, documentário, animação, videoclipe, experimental...).

d) Não serão aceites vídeos que não estejam completos ou que ainda estejam em fase de desenvolvimento;

e) Uma vez os vídeos submetidos ao festival mais informações podem ser solicitadas por e-mail, caso se justifique, como por exemplo:
- Informações pessoais sobre o(s) participante(s) (nome, idade e escola);
- Uma imagem estática do vídeo;
- Sinopse (máximo 400 caracteres com espaços);
- Um cartão de estudante (ou documento oficial da escola) poderá ser solicitado pela organização de forma a comprovar que, pelo menos, um dos participantes frequenta um estabelecimento de ensino,

f) Vídeos com narração, textos ou diálogos noutras línguas, devem conter as legendas em português ou inglês;

g) A organização não admite trabalhos que contenham ou transmitam uma mensagem que atente contra os direitos e liberdades fundamentais do ser humano, como previsto na Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos;

h) Os concorrentes são responsáveis pela originalidade dos projetos apresentados, bem como garantem a sua autoria e assumem toda a responsabilidade decorrente de reclamações de terceiros no que diz respeito a direitos de autor e direitos conexos.

i) No ato de inscrição, os participantes cedem os direitos de exibição dos vídeos à Organização do concurso e autorizam o uso das imagens, direta ou indiretamente, total ou parcialmente.

j) Os vídeos pré-selecionados são submetidos à apreciação de um júri constituído por profissionais ligados à área do cinema e/ou de multimédia sendo considerados os seguintes critérios de avaliação:

- Adequação aos objetivos do concurso;
- Eficácia da mensagem (argumento / representação / desempenho)
- Originalidade e criatividade
- Qualidade estética (fotografia, planos, enquadramentos)
- Qualidade técnica (imagem, som / montagem e edição)

k) Será atribuída a pontuação de 1 a 5 a cada critério de avaliação respeitando os seguintes indicadores:

1 - Inadequado 2 - Insuficiente 3 - Suficiente 4 - Bom 5 - Muito Bom/Excelente

l) Serão finalistas os trabalhos que obtenham os melhores resultados, sendo posteriormente exibidos no evento final do concurso;

m) Da decisão do júri não haverá qualquer tipo de recurso.

IV - DISPOSIÇÕES FINAIS
a) A Organização do Festival reserva-se no direito de alterar qualquer termo ou condição do presente regulamento, caso o entenda;

b) A submissão ao Festival FUNFEST implica a aceitação dos termos e condições supramencionados, bem como o consentimento relativamente ao tratamento dos dados pessoais dos participantes;

c) Qualquer informação adicional poderá ser solicitada através do email madeirafunfest@gmail.com;

d) A Organização reserva-se no direito de decidir sobre quaisquer casos não previstos no presente regulamento.
