The Flying Robot International Film Festival is an open competitive film festival focused on aerial cinema created from the perspective of flying cameras, also commonly known as drones. Participation in the festival is open to anyone anywhere with an Internet connection.

We accept short film submissions in these categories: Cinematic Narrative, Epic Landscape, Drones for Good, FPV Racing & Freestyle, WTF LOL, Promotional and Student Film.

Winners and runners-up will be awarded in all categories. Best of Show and People's Choice winners will also be awarded.

Your submitted film must be 5 MINUTES or LESS total run time.

Primary, we’re looking for films shot from the perspective of a flying camera that tell a story. We’re not interested in seeing what your backyard looks like. Unless your backyard is full of alligators or kangaroos or something. Judges will shine favorably upon films with a good story.

Your film does not need to exclusively contain aerial footage. There is no hard and fast rule about how much aerial footage must be in your film, but your footage should be central to the story you're telling. Films completely unrelated to drones or do not contain relevant aerial footage, will be disqualified.

Student Film category entries must be submitted by a student of an accredited educational institution. The name of the educational institution must be entered with the film submission.

All entries must be submitted through the FRIFF festival page on FilmFreeway.com, specifically via this url: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/FRiFF. All short film submissions must be done through direct upload to FilmFreeway or by including a YouTube or Vimeo link to your short film in your FilmFreeway submission.

  • Great event. Awesome location and cool prizes. The only negative feedback would be that the sound during the screening was terrible. Less the festivals fault and more the venue. Definitely recommend going and entering if you have a film!
