Director Statement

I would consider Love Airlines not just a fashion, but a music film too. This is due to a special song that was particularly created for this project by a tal ented Ukrainian musician. That’s how we made Love Airlines a unique piece, by putting an unforgettable musical flavor and joining it with the visual power. The effect was fiery. Music became a driving force in certain scenes, creating exceptional accents, where we needed them.
My personal inspiration for the shooting was coming from my imagination and thoughts I’ve got during my airplane flights. Some fantasies that everyone of us has sometimes, have been portrayed in the artistic film’s metaphors. Switching the light to the intimate red, sparkling wine flowing down the floor, winks of a flight attendant. Those signs were important to convey an atmo
sphere of a real love flight.
The shooting itself was challenging because we had a very limited space of the plane. Therefore, we’ve decided to show the volume and grandeur of the scenes with the help of wide-angle lens. It was able to transfer the impression and the visual that was significant for us to convey.
Before filming, we thought about a lot of special things, one of which was air choreography. We had a certain set of moves, which can be repeated by stewards on any aircraft’s board. To add even more movement to the video, we’ve used a hand-held camera. Any other stabilization systems would not fit in the area where we filmed. It has given our visual a new sense of weightless
ness. To compare, you can think of when you are not fastened and the plane makes circles in the sky. This is the effect we wanted to create and that was our way how to artistically emphasize this point.
