A lover of cinema, Suvodeep Mukherjee has been making short films since 2018. He is influenced by various filmmakers from both the traditional and experimental spaces. He is keen on exploring the dark or grey areas of the human psyche in his films. Often playing with the visual and aesthetic facets of filmmaking in a non-traditional way, Suvodeep has been able to explore some of the darkest narratives and by blending them with comedy, he has been able to establish a sense of familiarity in out of the ordinary situations in his films. He has directed three short films and hopes to make more in the near future. He is also a professional singer-songwriter who loves to bind his music in his films too.
I have always been inclined towards films that have a buddy comedy dynamic blended with unusual plotlines such as, 'Kiss kiss Bang bang' by Shane black or 'The big Lebowski' by the Coen Brothers. When the idea for the film came to me, I wanted to make sure that all the elements that I enjoy as an audience of Hollywood films must be touched upon without alienating the audience.
Hence the Screenplay was developed (by pushpak bhattacharya) in a way that could contextualize these concepts in a quintessential Bengali backdrop, with the help of a strong team.
As a director, I was able to tell the story in an enjoyable way without compromising on the quality of the film. Hopefully, the Bengali audience finds the film as enjoyable as I, as the director was able to enjoy making it.
