2018 REGULATIONS
0 | INTRODUCTION
The Association ACCIONS 3E convenes and organizes the 26th International Environmental Film Festival in Barcelona, Spain (hereinafter, FICMA), created in 1993 and the world’s oldest in its genre. The main objective of the FICMA is to promote, distribute and spread - before, during and after the event - all formats of audiovisual with the aim of raising awareness and sensitivity on the status and the environment of living beings and of the planet.
1 | PARTICIPATION
Any legal entity or individual over 18 years old may participate, and the films presented must deal with different social and environmental situations and circumstances.
2 | FESTIVAL SECTIONS
OFFICIAL
Competitive section for documentaries over 50 minutes long, produced starting from 1 January 2018, which aspire to win the Festival’s highest award: the Golden Sun.
PLANETA (PLANET)
Competitive section for documentaries no more than 60 minutes long, irrespective of their production date.
MIRADAS (VIEWS): Competitive section for short films (documentaries, fiction and animation) less than 20 minutes long, suitable for the general public.
The Festival will make a selection of these productions in order to shape the PETIT FICMA Programme for children, families and schools, with the aim of contributing to education and environmental awareness.
3 | REGISTRATION and SELECTION
The cost of registration for the OFFICIAL SECTION is US$10 (it also possible to register for the PLANETA SECTION, provided that it is no more than 60 minutes long).
The cost of registration for the PLANETA and MIRADAS SECTIONS is US$5.
Registration may be carried out on line using the various platforms set up by the Festival on: http://www.ficma.com . The following shall be required for all registrations:
1. Registration form (available on www.ficma.com) - which must be sent to the following e-mail address: entry@ficma.com. UNSIGNED registration forms shall not be valid.
2. Short summary, photo and trailer of the film
3. Link to view the film ON LINE
The deadline for acceptance of productions for the competition will be midnight on 2019 July the 15th The Festival will announce the results of the selection on the Festival’s official website: www.ficma.com and directly by e-mail to those selected.
4 | JURY
The Festival Jury will be made up of three film and environment professionals for each of the sections competing in the Festival.
The Jury’s Decision will be final and it may not declare the awards void.
5 | AWARDS
The Golden Sun has been the FICMA’s highest award from the outset, being the world’s oldest environmental cinematography prize.
• GOLDEN SUN OF THE FESTIVAL:
The winning feature documentary will receive an Award of 5.000U$S and the Golden Sun Award of the Festival
• PLANETA SECTION AWARD WWF:
The winning documentary will receive an Award of US$1,000
• MIRADAS SECTION AWARD:
The winning short film will receive an Award of US$500
Other awards and mentions will be announced during the Festival
6 | HOSPITALITY
The organization will encourage the participation and presence in the Festival of the film directors from the Official Section and Planeta Sections and of other guests from the audiovisual and environmental industry giving three nights hotel for production in Barcelona
7 | FICMA TOUR
The films selected for the FICMA may form part of the FICMA TOUR (touring Spain, Mexico and Morroco), non-profit screenings that the Festival organizes for dissemination, scientific, educational and informative purposes, suitable for the general public and with free admission. The films from the Official Section will be screened at least once in the FICMA MX (Edition 2020). (http://www.ficma.mx)
8 | CADA AULA UN CINE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The films selected for the Miradas Section shall form part of the Environmental Education Programme “CADA AULA UN CINE”, intended for schools. The aim of this programme is to take films and the environment solely to Spanish-speaking schools, free of charge, in order to introduce the new technologies and promote environmental education in the classroom, with the motto: “Educate with Entertainment and raise awareness with sensitivity”.
9 | PROMOTION AND COMMUNICATION
The Festival organizers may use the photos, trailers or fragments of the film to no longer than 3’ to publicize the event on promotional TV programmes and other media
The Festival will provide the images of the Winners of the Official Selection and of the Awards presented to all the works which form part of the 26th edition, so that the participants can mention and publicize their selection and/or award.
AGREEMENT
The signature of the author and/or producer of the work on the registration form for the 26th International Environmental Film Festival represents unconditional acceptance of all of the FICMA’s Regulations.
The Festival reserves the right to make modifications or to take decisions or consider issues not specified in these Regulations. These will be notified in advance to the participants of this edition.
