FATHER

The door peephole, weary of absent fathers haphazardly paying visits and performing their absurd corridor catwalk parade, flees into a new world. There again, unable to establish a connection, it encounters a society marked by fatherlessness and the endless search for acceptance.

'Father' was inspired by the material conditions of a political hellscape and imagined from the perspective of a child whose deceased patriarch had been sent to a war he did not support, nor understand. As a child, I'd feel despair and rage against my late father - the material conditions ultimately spell out abandonment. 'Father' was born out of the desire to end this vicious cycle.

Director Biography - Nick Denisov

Nick Denisov, originally from Russia, moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 18. There, he graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth and started his career in London, where he continues to work as a director. Taking deep inspiration from the literary works of Carlo Rovelli and Haruki Murakami, as well as street photographers of the Magnum Photos era, he pursued a career in filmmaking.

He has directed a series of music videos for influential hip-hop, indie, and rap artists, as well as made a feature series on theatre that was released on a major online platform, Okko Tv. He has also worked as lead editor with director Omar Jones, creative collaborator with Mariano Vivanco, and curator of a photography project for Gueorgui Pinkhassov; thus extending the spectrum of vision across mediums.

As a storyteller, Nick prioritises the constant search for experimentation and aims to create original poetic worlds that transcend the boundary between fiction and the documentary.
