FFFF – FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival

FFFF is the first international film festival in the Netherlands that is focussing on the ‘fashion film’ genre. The program consists of short fashion film screenings, masterclasses, workshops, cross-over performances, installations and fashion talks.

FFFF Festival aims to offer a stage to emerging and filmmakers and designers who experiment with the genre and is also a platform for debate about The State of The Art of this rising film genre. The program consists of a curated selection of the relevant fashion films from the past few years and new films. The festival curatorial special focus themes are Dutch Fashion Film and Fashion Makes Sense (films that matter).

FFFF is accessible festival for everyone and a unique opportunity to get inspired by the world of fashion, discover new fashion and film talents and to enjoy the city of Maastricht. Festival program is accessible via ticket sale and partly for free. The festival program will take place at various locations in Maastricht, including venues such as Lumière Cinema and de Bijenkorf.

FFFF invites all emerging and established filmmakers, designers and brands to submit their work via the Open Call. By entering the FFFF you have a chance to be selected for one of the official program screenings and also to be shortlisted for the FFFF Awards.

Awards & Prizes

FFFF contains an award ceremony where several prizes will be announced by the appointed jury. Films selected through online submissions have the chance to get selected for the contest.

FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival 2017 is planned for 3 - 5 November 2017 in Maastricht (The Netherlands), organized by FASHIONCLASH Foundation.

These are the Official Rules of the FFFF (FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival 2017), organised by FASHIONCLASH Foundation, Bredestraat 19, 6211 HA Maastricht, The Netherlands.
1. Criteria
Submission process is open to filmmakers, designers, photographers, agencies, professionals, new talents and students from the audio-visual, fashion and advertising sector to submit their films.

The films must be a short fashion film.
All submissions that do not meet these terms will not be judged. The film can be anywhere from 30 seconds to max. 15 minutes.
Fashion must play a central role in the films narrative.
All films may be in any language. However, if the film is not in English the film must have English subtitles. Dutch films need to have English subtitles as well.
All films cannot contain a cruel act of sexism, racism or any kind of material that can be viewed as discriminating. Films that do meet these terms will be not reviewed.

All rights, permissions and clearances must be obtained prior to submission. Applicants must ensure that they have the right to submit the work with regard to third parties connected with the production of the film in question.
By entering your work, you agree to this, the terms and conditions and the responsibilities involved. FASHIONCLASH takes no responsibility for violation of copyright law.

All submissions must contain the following:
All films must be submitted online via FilmFreeway only. A completed online submission via filmfreeway.com. The film format in which the film should be presented during is DCP and Mpeg-4 only. Note: making the Vimeo downloadable is preferred.
Although there is no limitation regarding the production date of the film, our main focus will be on productions made within the last two years.

Additional material such as credits, synopsis of no more than 75 words, a minimum of 2 stills, a brief director’s biography, a poster and 1 photo of the director via Filmfreeway.com

2. Deadlines
All films must arrive in by the late deadline and must be made available for the entire festival period, unless otherwise agreed. If the deadline isn’t met you’ll not be eligible to participate in the festival, no exceptions.

4. Selection & Awards
FASHIONCLASH artistic team and the appointed recognised jury chooses and invites films to be presented in FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival - IN COMPETITION PROGRAM - section, as well as in several non-competitive Festival programmes. By submitting your work, you will automatically be considered for the official selection of the FFFF and you can be selected for the competition program.
The judges’ decision is anonymous and final; they decide if and in which program section the participant’s film will be showcased at the FFFF. There is no correspondence regarding the decision.

You will be notified by email if your film/films are selected and for which section of the FFFF. When the selection process is completed, and a producer has been selected, the organisation will contact the producer with the information given on the contact form. FFFF will not be held responsible for failure to contact with a producer.

5.0 Terms & Conditions

5.1.
By entering FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival (FFFF) you confirm that you hold all rights/permissions for the submitted movie. These include all rights for music, cast, location, broadcast, design, viewing etc.
5.2.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless FFFF from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
5.3.
By submitting the film/films to the festival you give express permission for the material to be considered for selection and nomination, and agree that under no circumstance may the film/films be withdrawn once submitted.
5.4.
The selection committee’s decision to select or reject a film is final. No correspondence will be held in regards to this decision.
5.5.
You warrant that in any case of rights dispute you will be liable for all legal costs incurred by all parties concerned.
5.6.
The Festival has the right to screen selected films during the Festival without paying any screening fees and for educational purposes on other events related to the festival.
5.7.
General scheduling and timetabling of the public screenings and press & industry screenings are entirely at the discretion of the festival management.
5.8.
Filmmakers and other professionals attending the festival are responsible for their own travel and accommodation. However, if your film has been accepted and you do decide to come, we will happily provide you with a free pass for the festival.
5.9.
If accepted, you hereby agree that your submission imagery, including film and clips, will be available for use in the promotional activities of FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival and for further distribution through our networks, social media channels and events, unless otherwise agreed by prior written arrangement.
5.10.
By entering, you assign all right, title and interest in your film and clips to FFFF, its sponsors, associates, affiliates, directors, employees, sub-contractors, consultants (as the case may be), for promotional and advertising purposes pertaining to the event in perpetuity and on an irrevocable basis. These purposes may involve the fulfilment of any sponsor’s related affairs pertaining to the event, subject to your availability and the sponsor covering all costs, including but not limited to, travel and accommodation.
5.11.
You warrant that you are authorised to commit your film/clip for screening and thereby indemnify and hold harmless FASHIONCLASH, its sponsors, associates, affiliates, directors, employees, sub-contractors, consultants (as the case may be) against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages and expenses, consequential or incidental of whatsoever nature and howsoever arising, including, but not limited to, copyright or trademark infringement and/or loss of or damage in respect of the content submitted.
