Fallen Angels
This project began with the students wishes of Lyceum Apostolu Louka Kolossi to express their pain, their concerns and their problems. During their art lesson in school, meetings were preceded in which every student expressed their concerns that we are facing globaly. Together we discussed. We cried,we felt the pain and the fury. We also laughed but together we found peace within us. Halfway during our journey we realized that once our meetings came to an end we found ourselves in a large embrace. With love, compassion and understanding a huge smile was born. And that’s how we decided to radiate our project. A project which we wish will not only be a life guide but also a message of love and hope for the upcoming generation of students graduating from our school and for the whole world.And that is how everything began. A decision was made to hwlp eachother. To join our hands and help people who suffer from the “well” of loneliness,social inequality,drugs,prostitution and depression. To help the angels that have fallen deep into the well find the light for radiant peace.
The project “Fallen Angels” decorates our school yard and consists six figures for the moment. Men,women and young childern try and help eachother to escape their misery. Due to our project being located outdoors and also for ecomical reasons, the sculptures are constructed with chicken wire, pebbles, cement and lots of love. We worked days full of sunshine but also rain but we always worked with passion. Most importantly, this piece of art has brought us together simultaneously making us a family!
Our work has drawn the attention of many who visit our school either to watch our project’s development or to even offer their help. Television channels such as RIK and Alpha Cyprus have visited us while we are working sending the message that the fallen angels wish to pass on.
We already feel that our goal has been achieved: to radiate peace among us and all over Cyprus. Who knows? Maybe one day all over ther world.
