Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)
"Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)" is a touching documentary about the decline of a traditional industry in Daulatpur, once a major center for handmade cigarettes (beedi). The film tells the story of the people who have been making beedis for generations, and how this industry, which once supported them, is slowly disappearing.
Through this film, we see the struggles of Daulatpur’s people as they face unemployment and a changing world that no longer values their traditional craft. What was once a key part of their economy and culture is now losing its importance.
The film is not just about the decline of an industry, but also about the hard work, passion, and sacrifices of those who were part of it. "Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)" is a tribute to the cultural legacy of beedi-making, and it reflects on the challenge of preserving traditions in today’s fast-changing world.

Danish (Director, Producer, and Director of Photography)
Danish is a budding filmmaker who has recently ventured into the world of filmmaking. "Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)" is his debut documentary. In this film, he worked as the director, producer, and director of photography, exploring the decline of the beedi industry in Daulatpur.
Though new to filmmaking, Danish's passion for storytelling drives him to capture important cultural and social issues. Through his first project, he aims to highlight the struggles of communities and preserve their cultural heritage.
My name is Danish, and recently I created a documentary film called "Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)." In this film, I worked as the director, producer, and director of photography, expressing my craft. The film tells the story of Daulatpur, a place that was once a hub for the production of handmade cigarettes (beedi). Beedi, which was not just an industry but also a cultural tradition, is now on the decline. The people of Daulatpur, with their hard work, passion, and skills, were the backbone of this business, but today the industry has lost its importance, and the people are facing a crisis of employment. Through "Extinguishing Beedi (Bujhti Beedi)," I’ve tried to preserve this cultural heritage and the stories of the people connected to it. The purpose of the film is not just to show a dying industry, but also to highlight the hard work, sacrifice, and history behind it, so that the audience can not only feel the change but also understand its significance.
