Extasis Digital
Extasis Digital is a project that researches the body in the digital experience, the action and interaction through technology, resulting in a dance for camera piece. It was created in collaboration with director Yanina Orellana (GDL) and Yvonne Lacombe, Los Angeles based choreographer, who responded to scores generated for digital communication. The resulting piece is a visual interpretation of the somatic responses during these sessions of saturation with stimuli and information.

Yanina Orellana is a movement artist originally from Guadalajara, México. Her work is a transdisciplinary inquiry manifesting in choreography, sound, video, and rituals. Yanina’s choreographic work has been shown in Mexico, New York, New Orleans and in Los Angeles at Chicano International Film Festival, REDCAT, Human Resources and Highways Performance Space. During the last year, Yanina has been investigating online performance and interactive projects in social media by interpreting Mexican traditions and rituals with projects like: Piñata Livestream and Digital Altar of Dead. She recently performed her piece “We are All sons of La Chingada” at the Online Performance Art Festival. She is a founding member of FLOCK; a collective based in New Orleans where she performs dance and theatre for film and live productions with artistic director Meryl Murman. In Los Angeles, Yanina collaborated, as a performer, in the creation of original work with multiple artists including: Critical Mass Performance Group, Jmy Kidd, Dance Aegis and Robbie Shaw, the latter two for Dance for Camera as well. She is a certified Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist through the EastWest Somatics Institute Mexico. She received her bachelor degree in Dance at California Institute of the Arts.
I’m a human who is moved by pleasure. I deeply enjoy moving in solitude and with company: to embody energy, to tune into a collective pulse and to inhabit the space completely. My creative aspirations are developed through a holistic lens. My kinesthetic research has a somatic approach and welcomes the various influences that my identity brings, as a mexican woman, to be able to share myself with an honest presence.
