Expedition to Yamal region to find ancient wood

Since the 80ties, a team from the Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology of Yekaterinburg is organizing regular scientific expeditions in the remote North of Russia (specifically in the Yamal Peninsula) to collect antique wood remains from ancient forests. The landscape and the natural conditions are amazingly unique, as well as the working activities and logistic challenges related to such expeditions. Based on videos from the 2019 expedition, the movie wants to raise awareness of the beauty, difficulties, and importance of such scientific activities performed in extreme harsh environment to preserve and archive an important historical resource at the service of the scientific community and the whole humanity.
