Exoplanet

Here is the first interstellar French pop rock song ever made!

We experienced conditions from another planet to record the music and to produce this new video clip with my French-speaking extraterrestrial sidekick: The Gloua!
A committed singer-songwriter, he is also extremely sensitive to global problems such as pollution, overproduction, overconsumption, the exhaustion of natural resources and the extinction of animal and plant species.
He also dreams of heavenly exoplanets at the other end of the Universe, but his immense wisdom and great intelligence made him realize that he must above all cherish and protect the planet that gave life to his own species.

To make this video clip I used real images from space, from our solar system, including the planet Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, the Moon and our good old Earth.
They come from NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), the Hubble and Webb telescopes. In no case do I claim ownership and I have no intention of infringing the rights of their authors.

I also mixed all kinds of surreal images: artists' views of our Milky Way galaxy, pulsars, neutron stars, black holes and other celestial objects that are as mysterious as they are fascinating.
These are royalty-free images from specialized sites (see clip credits).
I thus created settings where we can constantly wonder whether or not this could be reality.

In terms of image processing, I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of old science fiction films from the 1960s and 1970s with their kitsch costumes and their special effects that were so... special!
I was particularly inspired by "Planet of the Apes", "Dark Star", "Green Sun", "Star Crash", "Planet of the Vampires", "The Green Slime", and TV series like "Star Trek" and "Cosmos 1999".

I also used the split-screen cinematographic technique, popular in those years, as well as the effects of old 35mm film, slightly blurred focus and colorimetry imitating the Eastmancolor or Metrocolor processes used in cinema in these years there.

Director Biography - Gilles Pradel

Explore the unique musical universe of this French singer-songwriter who evolves at the crossroad between French songs, pop, rock and folk musics.

From French songs, AEGIDE (Gilles Pradel) keeps the words, their meaning, their games and their poetry.

From folk he draws simplicity, authenticity and the protest message of the songmakers.

For him, rock is a state of mind and a universal mode of expression where energy and sincerity are essential.

As for pop music, it brings effective melodies, choruses that ring out and stay engraved in the head.

In addition to these major influences, AEGIDE draws inspiration from styles that are less familiar to him but that he particularly appreciates: so-called classical music for more sophisticated harmonies and electro for synthetic timbres or even sound ambiances.
