Everything is fine

This animation is nspired by my feelings of depression/ dissociation/ anxiety and the realisation that you could tell the exact moment my life kinda fell apart by looking through my camera roll as time went on.

Director Statement

My name is Chloe/Myth and I’m a student artist at UCA. My passion for animation stems from a fascination with the power of storytelling.
I love to use hand-drawn, pencil-on-paper animation but recently I have been trying to experiment with other techniques such as medieval-style sketches, edited on photoshop with vivid colours for a modern twist. In the past I was very interested in sculpture, and I feel like this has had a positive impact on my work now, helping my understanding of tone and how my drawings would work in a 3d space. When drawing, my main focus is showing my understanding of tone rather than realism, which I specialised in in my school years.

Recently I have been drawing inspiration from myth and folklore, for example Hoodening and Morris dancing. My audience right now are university students, the 'missed generation' of Hoodening performances. I would like to raise awareness for Hoodening so people can show it to their future children, therefore keeping the tradition alive. I strive to create a unique visual experience, merging the traditional with the contemporary.

Drawing from historical and cultural references, my animations create a visual dialogue with both the past and present, bringing forgotten elements of the past to new viewers.
As I continue to explore the world of folklore, my goal is to push the boundaries of animation and contribute to its evolution as an art form. By reflecting on my progress and learning, I hope to make my mark on the world of Contemporary Art & Design one day.
