Event Horizon (Pilot)

This story features protagonist Kevin, a nerdy high school senior and antagonist Chad, Kevin’s bully. Upon learning his love interest Laura is attending his parents' annual Christmas party, Kevin calls upon his eccentric pal Larry. Larry offers moral support so Kevin can finally talk to the girl of his dreams. Set in Midwest Suburbia, 1987. Kevin prepares himself for Laura’s arrival. Kevin is determined to make an impression on Laura, or at least not embarrass himself. Chad plans to go to the party with his father so they can flaunt their family’s success. He then plans to join the separate teen party in the basement, where he can taunt
Kevin and Larry. Kevin primps himself ready for Laura; preoccupied, he forgets Chad is coming.

Kevin’s former acquaintance Rolf shows up with his socially inept roommates.
When asked to bring Kevin a plate of ambrosia, Chad decides to slip him some LSD for his own amusement. Rolf’s teeny bopper cousins and their delinquent friends then storm the basement; party vibe is shot. Kevin panics, between the acid and the said teeny boppers.
Larry and their mutual friend Lester manage to contain them, but when Kevin shows off his dance moves the drugs have taken over, so he makes a fool of himself. Chad then comes to the basement and insults Kevin and his guests; he announces that he had drugged Kevin.
Outraged, Kevin challenges Chad to a fight and knocks him flat on his back. A separate
altercation ensues, in which Kevin’s father knocks Chad’s father unconscious.

The party comes to an end. Kevin and Laura console one another at the end of a crazy, long night. He attempts to kiss her, but given his condition, she resists. Laura takes
her leave. Kevin’s efforts to woo Laura were a bust. He did however stand up to Chad. In conclusion, he realizes that while his beef with Chad is far from over his and Laura’s story has maybe just begun.

Coverfly Top 20 of the Year badge winner, '24. Having overcome many adversities, I've always maintained a humorous perspective in spite of tragedy and disparity. This is reflected in my writing. Because real life is funnier than fiction, my work is inspired by personal trials and humorous experiences... then my imagination writes the rest, transcending the barriers of reality and hilarity.
