Director Biography - Manish Khushalani

Manish Khushalani is a Film Director and Director of Photography based in New York. Born in Mumbai, India, Manish pursued film and media at an early age, majoring in advertising, graduating in Bachelors in Mass Media from Mumbai University. He now works as a Director and Cinematographer in New York City, specializing in narrative projects.

Director Statement

Etude is the thesis film project of my best friend Yifan Wen at New York Film Academy. We both studied Cinematography at New York Film Academy. The story inspired from my friend Yifan's own experience and we both share similar childhood memories. So we decided to work together on this short film. Etude is an attempt to get into the mind of a 9 year old kid we once were, and revisit the fears and insecurities we once had. It is also looking back in retrospect and acknowledging events and circumstances which have shaped us subliminally.
