I got into the entertainment industry back in 2007 back in Charleston, SC as a background actor on the set of the LifeTime show Army Wives. At the time, Michelle Obama was all that many were talking about. I consider it a great compliment that I was being compared to her, but I never made anything of it. But in 2008, I was approached by an agent, and everything changed. I worked as an actor being cast in commercials, industrial and training films in SC and FL.
Between 2008 and 2013, while acting and working on the set of Army Wives, I developed my own production company, E5Productions. Under that umbrella, I wrote and shot several comedic shorts and a music video where I was the illustrious Michelle Obama. They were loads of fun and a few have managed to still be floating around on YouTube.
In 2013, I moved to TX and unfortunately, my career stalled because their very few created film opportunities. I did maybe three industrial/training commercial a year but that was about it. Then in 2019, I wrote and produced full length stage for a mega church in downtown Houston. That inspired me enough to go back to school to go from being a long-term amateur to a true professional.
Now, I live in the Greater Hampton Roads area and attend school in Northern Virginia. I am scheduled to graduate with my degree in Cinematography in the spring of 2024. My first short, in a long time, is now ready to be sent out to festival all over the southeast so that I can hone my craft and make a difference.
I want to be a crossroads conductor. I want for the work that I write and produce to tell stories not yet been told. Stories that show black people in every fascist of life. I feel to fully make my voice heard; I must position myself to not just fill a space. But to make room for other black executives eager to change their narrative.
