In partnership with Village Picture Shows, Ninth Wave Global presents the Equinox Mountain Film Festival.

This two-day event in Manchester, Vermont, will be the culmination of a grassroots effort to find and share stories of our environment and our role within it. Open submissions for short films -- everyone can be a filmmaker, and we encourage all kinds of work, whether long-term projects or pieces made over a weekend. Share your story, your community, your environment with us.


Ninth Wave Global are an organization, community and think-tank working to re-imagine exploration and generate space for investigation and positive change in environmental and community settings.

Village Picture Shows is an independent cinema in Manchester, Vermont, set between the Green Mountains and the Taconic Range. As with so many such establishments in small rural areas, the value of the picturehouse's service within the community is so much greater than the sum of its parts.

Equinox Mountain Film Festival, September 21st - 22nd 2019:

1st Prize Short Film (Category 1) - $750
1st Prize Short Film (Category 2) - $500
People's choice award - $250

Shortlisted applicants will be screened at Village Picture Shows Cinema on Saturday 21st September, at the end of which the finalists will be announced.

Finalists will be rescreened at Village Picture Shows Cinema on Sunday 22nd September, with the winner announced after the screenings.

Village Picture Shows Cinema, Manchester, Vermont is much beloved. Always promising an enthusiastic and appreciative audience it is the perfect setting for independent filmmakers to showcase their work.

All shortlisted filmmakers will receive free entry to the event.

Submission Parameters:

Category 1
- Maximum 15 minutes, including title and end credits.
- Minimum 5 minutes.

Category 2
- Maximum 5 minutes
- No minimum

All forms of storytelling welcome!

Broadly environmental focus (including our role within it)
Applicants will be assessed on the strength and conviction of the message being portrayed, as well as the cinematography of the piece.

Film may have been previously screened, but no previous award winning films will be considered for the cash prize.

If your film is in a language other than English, please provide English subtitles for judging purposes.

Applicants are responsible for the quality of the video.

Please submit your piece along with its title, a short description (max 100 words), and a chosen still image.
We intend to use short clips from the shortlisted films, together with the above, as promotional content. Please let us know if you are unhappy for us to do so.
