Ephemerality / wax and fire

Alice Gelli, born in Rio de Janeiro. Has a degree in Graphic Design from PUC Rio, works as an artist and designer. Believes that the limit between the two professions can be subtle. Is interested in the thought that is behind every plastic result. Studies the physical and emotional movement. For her, the path is what matters. Language is present in the process, behind the work. Each piece of work has its own uniqueness, its own formal, systemic and plastic identity. Each one demands a type of material, color, format. What connects them is the way of thinking about them, the process that’s inherent to the result.

It’s like a mantra, a sort of trance that creates an energetic spiral. Patterns that repeat themselves, gestures that wish to occupy the space inside and at the same time expunge it all out. Everything that doesn’t fit. An act of resistance, contrasts, cycles, long trajectories and inquiries.
An obsessive immersion until exhaustion steps in. It is liberating and opens up space for new horizons.

Despite not knowing where to go, what matters is walking.
Everything that is standing still tends to remain so, just as everything that is in movement, tends to remain in movement.

The nature of speech is dual, it speaks of opposites: the resistant sensitive, the light tension and the euphoric silence.
