Director Biography - Maryam Imogen Ghouth

Maryam Imogen Ghouth lives between Mallorca, Spain, and Dubai, UAE, where she publishes poetry in visual, audio, and written forms. In 2019, she embarked on her journey into the arts by making poetry films that explored psychological themes such as existential crises and belonging. In 2020, her series, Journey of Becoming, was chosen for screening at Dubai’s art-house cinema, Akil, in celebration of female artists. Since then, she has directed nineteen poetry films and co-directed six. In late 2023, she began submitting her films to festivals, gaining several laurels for her works 'Bubble Hat’ and 'Not Alone.' Her poetry recordings have been used as overlays in award-winning short films, such as ‘Under the Sun’; as lyrics for music producers, including Arash Behzadi; and as guided meditations for wellness practitioners, such as Ruqaya Ahmed. Her poems have appeared in international literary journals, including Last Leaves and inScribe.
