A Coruña (Spain), 1994. Born in winter surrounded by chestnut trees. Almost spring. Carla Souto graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo (Spain) and has a Master's degree in Sculpture from the University of Lisbon (Portugal). Her work as an artist has been exhibited at Sant Andreu Contemporani (Barcelona), Sala Amadís (Madrid), ART Mustang (Elche), Galeria Monumental (Lisbon), Pazo da Cultura de Pontevedra and Museu da Imagem e Som de Florianópolis (Brazil), among other places where she has stayed. In 2023, Carla Souto gave birth to her eponymous brand to design jewellery endowed with emotional narratives. Each piece is meticulously modeled through gesture, resulting in organic shapes that defy the conventions of classic, straight lines associated with traditional jewellery. In this way, each jewel becomes a wearable sculpture, crafted from fine metals, sourced from local and certified suppliers, and gems and precious stones obtained from ethical and responsible mining. The pieces, created in collaboration with expert local artisans, preserve ancestral jewellery techniques. These family heirlooms hope to accumulate new stories as they become part of the lives of their future collectors.
Carla Souto’s proposal explores the duality of jewelry: how objects that symbolize beauty and desire can be transformed into representations of the macabre and the disturbing, reflecting the darkest obsessions of human nature. In this fashion film, jewelry is not just an accessory, but a powerful symbol of the deepest pleasures and challenges of existence.
