Director Biography - Murat Akser

Murat Akser studied filmmaking at York University. After working as camera assistant at several Hollywood feature productions shot in Toronto, he has started writing and directing his own short films. His most recent short film Garip (The Hoarder) has been screened at international film festivals, most recently at Cannes Short Film Corner. His feature screenplayis shortlisted by Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab. He recently completed NI Screen funded short film The Gift.

Director Statement

I have imagined a mystery woman sitting all by herself and drinking tea and smoking at a cafe. The young man, the waiter observes her every day and wonders: Who is she, why is she here? This was the starting point of the film. What is he followed her and wanted to talk.
