Emily Roy Sayre graduated from Belhaven University in 2013 with a BFA in dance and emphasis in modern technique. She returned to her hometown to dance professionally for Of Moving Colors, Louisiana’s leading contemporary company, then moved to Texas in 2014 to dance with Uptown Dance Company. Since then, Emily has worked with The Pilot Dance Project, Frame Dance Productions, and Houston Grand Opera (Nixon in China and West Side Story) allowing her to work with artists such as Sean Curran, Jennifer Mabus, and Julio Monge. Her choreography has been presented twice at Mind the Gap and Houston’s Fringe Festival and set on San Jacinto College, OMC, and UDC II. She has had the privilege of exploring the many different avenues dance offers including aerial harness (vertical dance), musical theater, and dance for camera. Emily has been featured in 225 Magazine, The Advocate newspaper, and on VoyageHouston as one of “Houston’s Most Inspiring Stories”.
