Emily Dubovi was the mentee of writer/director Trent O’Donnell (The Good Place, New Girl, Ghosts, Brooklyn 99) for four years, working closely in the CBS All Access writers room for his show, No Activity, as a writers assistant, script coordinator, and on set as a 2nd Unit director.
She has directed promotional videos for No Activity as well as 2nd Unit Directed each season - which she holds a DGA credit for. Emily has also 2nd Unit directed on an unaired Fox pilot.
Her time working for and shadowing directors like Trent, Erin O’Malley (New Girl, Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang Chi, American Born Chinese) has served her wisely, as outside of work, she has been able to successfully produce and direct four independent short films. All of which have received recognition in the festival circuits.
Besides directing, Emily also enjoys collaborating on co-written scripts with her friend, Hannah Murphy (Ted, Refinery 29, Vice). Together their scripts have been recognized in the Austin Film Festival finalists, Sundance Episodic lab, WeforShe and Tracking Board. Additionally, she’s been credited as an Associate Producer on No Activity as well as Jake Johnson’s feature film ‘Ride the Eagle.’
Emily is currently employed by Hulu’s reboot of Futurama as a Writer’s Assistant and Script Coordinator.
