Emily And The Panhandler
When a panhandler is ignored by a hopeful teacher, he
decides to give her a lesson in respect.
An armless, legless panhandler sings his song on the street when a young woman, Emily, ignores him. He gets her attention and calls her out for ignoring him, but she scoffs at the idea and points to his lower rank. Enraged, he decides to teach her a lesson. Emily continues to her interview to be a teacher. She’s underqualified and faces an interviewer who looks down on her. She gets tested with a question: "Why is Uganda called the Pearl of Africa?," but the panhandler interrupts, causing Emily to tank her interview. Emily confronts the panhandler, accusing him of ruining her life. He retorts that she can’t be entrusted with children if she doesn’t know how to treat people with respect. Emily Concedes. The panhandler gives her the answer to the question she failed: "Uganda is truly the pearl of Africa because of its abundant biodiversity, color, profusion, brilliant life and it’s serene beauty," and tells her to try again. She does, using panhandler’s advice and passing.

I'm Jose Tone, aka Joseph Kitone, and I'm a Screenwriter and a 3D Animator. I've animated and edited two short-animations, "A Magic Carpet's Dream" and "Emily and The Panhandler." I currently live in Rubaga (just moved here from Entebbe), Uganda.
I developed the love of cartoon animation at the age of 13. I had watched a lot of cartoon TV programs and this brought on a love for Art ever since and it quickly became my favorite subject at Kajjansi Progressive senior secondary school and it felt more of a joy to do rather than a chore like a lot of other subjects can be. I studied Fine Art from Senior One all the way through School and achieved A in Fine Art at U.A.C.E.
I decided to go to an Institute and study Graphic Design; this subject covered a whole range of different design aspects and opened up a lot more modern techniques to me while I was there which involved planning a design, creating it by hand and finishing the final solution on a computer. During this time I learned the Adobe CS6 suite which included using such packages as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Flash. We were given a number of different design briefs and had to come up with a final solution to these briefs which varied from posters, magazines, websites and books. However the brief I enjoyed doing most was the small Animation. I used Adobe After Effects CS6 to Animate my first Animation short-film called A Magic Carpet's Dream. I went on and applied to do 3D Computer Animation online course and at the end of the course, I made my second animation, "EMILY AND THE PANHANDLER."
I have always been intrigued by Animation but it's been this past year that I've really come to appreciate it and would now like to try and make a career from this great art form.
