Director Biography - Fu Yong

Fu Yong, a director and a screenwriter whose native place is Shanghai. Mostly he is engaged in the work of advertisements, short films, and MV shooting. His works have won the 21st IAI International Advertising Awards of Public Welfare, the Award of Excellence in Film and Television and other awards, also has won multiple international film festival awards. He has once been selected for Jackie Chan’s Young Director Program, Hengyu Star Sky New Director and New Film Program, 2017 New Chinese Directors Initiative, and 2018 Jackie Chan’s Film A Program. His main works are: the film and documentary”Peacock”, public welfare short film "My City Dream", micro-film"Because of You""Exorcism", music film "Do You Remember?", short film "Embers", cinema film " Good-For-Nothing Heroes " etc.

Director Statement

The idea of the story came from a news report about the Wenchuan earthquake. I was deeply moved by the behaviors of Xie Shouju, the wife, who spared no effort to save her husband day and night. We focus the perspective of story on her persistence, her recklessness, her single-mindedness, and her abnormal mental state and psychological reality. In terms of the overall tone of the film, we hope to give it an inescapable sense of fate. We aim to separate the reality and the inner world out by integrating Xie Shouju’s life experience and her mental consciousness, in combination with the current grand theme of the community of shared future for mankind, to show the game between human and natural disasters, the confrontation with near-death, and the irresistible nature of fate, to present the emotional pain and psychological suffering of a woman and a family in the face of the disaster.
