Director Biography - Natalia Irene Rivas

Natalia Rivas is an audiovisual producer and competent writer, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2018, she decided to share her work with the world and began participating in various literary and cultural events. Her first performance took place at the cultural center "El Emergente," and since then, she has become part of Buenos Aires' cultural scene, participating in various independent venues.
She completed part of her training in audiovisual techniques at the Universidad del Cine Foundation and the National University of the Arts. Her exploration leads her to traverse the interstices between the spaces that surround us and the means to provide them with image, word, and sound. This led her to combine digital photography, video, and writing. During the pandemic, she resided in the southern region of her native country, where she organized and directed a creative writing workshop at the Mujer Pionera Library in El Chaltén, Santa Cruz.

Upon returning to Buenos Aires, Natalia was invited to participate in an event organized by Vapor Crew 95, where she presented lines from her poems in the form of stickers for wall interventions. Currently, she is editing a book of her poetry and working on two short film scripts. Natalia's debut work showcases her creativity and talent as a multidisciplinary independent artist, and her contributions will surely add to the cultural scene of Buenos Aires.

Director Statement

The script for the tribute short film arose from the mystery posed by the final scene of Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, Murnau's 1922 film, in which Ellen, the vampire's last victim, dies. Ellen, whose name means "ray of sunshine," “brightness” and is a variation of the name Eleanor, which is of Hebrew origin and comes from the element "el," which means God or light, and whose meaning is "God is my light," in complete contrast to the darkness that Nosferatu carries and disperses in his surroundings. A spark ignited the mystery: what happened next to that woman? Did she fulfill her role as a martyr and disappear from memory? What if she gathered her strength now in this century, where female voices are encouraged to be heard? One hundred years later, the woman who captivated Nosferatu awakened and partially lifted the veil between darkness and clarity, showing us a glimpse of shadow, giving life to Eleanor in a short film tribute to this classic.
