The Other Body

Isabel returns to her childhood home with a clear objective: to have an abortion with herbs in solitude. The heat, nature and its hypnotic sounds guide her passage. As she goes through the procedure, repressed memories resurface like raw wounds and wander through the abandoned spaces of what could have been a home. Her mother's eyes, the water brook, the violence, the mirror.

Director Biography - Abril Cortés

Abril Cortés is a filmmaker and photographer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2019 she directed and scripted her first independent short film, Genesis. The project had a tour of festivals during 2020, both national and international. Highlights include her participations in the Make Art Not War festival, based in Los Angeles, where she was a finalist and the second edition of the ENERC festival screenings. She participated in projects as a producer of both audiovisual and cultural events of visual and audiovisual arts. She dabbles in the fields of photography and experimental filmmaking, with a special attraction to the use of analog formats.

Abril Cortés es directora de cine y fotógrafa de Buenos Aires, Argentina. En 2019 dirigió y guionó su primer cortometraje independiente, Génesis. El proyecto tuvo un recorrido por festivales durante el 2020, tanto nacionales como internacionales. Se destacan sus participaciones en el festival Make Art Not War, con sede en Los Ángeles, donde fue finalista y la segunda edición del festival ENERC se proyecta. Participó en proyectos como productora tanto audiovisual como de eventos culturales de artes visuales y audiovisuales. Incursiona en los ámbitos de la fotografía y cine experimental, con especial atracción hacia el uso de formatos analógicos.
