I'm a retired engineer living in San Diego. This is my second screenplay. I've been a life-long fan of intelligent, plausible sci-fi that reflects current discoveries and the questions for society that they raise.
The story opens at Caltech, where Dr. Brent Lawrence, a driven but reckless experimental physicist, tests the world's first practical teleportation device. Assisted by the theoretical physicist Dr. Alicia Boehmer, his unrequited love interest, Brent pushes the boundaries of science, driven by his childhood dream of Star Trek-like transportation.
Their full-scale NASA test fails spectacularly, but instead of a setback, it leads to a shocking discovery. An advanced civilization has hacked it to send an android emissary, Thomas, bearing knowledge of advanced science. Thomas offers to help Brent perfect the teleportation of living beings and realize his dream, but Alicia and Brent’s friend, Lenny, remain skeptical of his motives.
As Brent and Alicia work with Thomas to secretly develop the technology, they become embroiled in a web of military intrigue and government interference. Colonel Steven Hagen from the US Space Force becomes suspicious of their activities, adding pressure and scrutiny from external powers to their work.
The plot thickens when Thomas reveals that the teleportation technology Brent must restore is buried in Africa near an ancient meteor strike. Brent and Alicia embark on a perilous journey to Ghana to activate the Einstein Bridge, their love finally ripening amidst the dangers and sensuality of the primitive African rain forest.
However, the truth is far more sinister than they imagined. While Brent and Alicia trudge through Africa, Thomas stays with Brent’s friend, Lenny, a devilish math genius and sex party impresario who introduces the android to the dark side of human libido. Discovering his new reason for survival, Thomas confesses that he is the advanced team for an invasion to harvest Earth’s nitrogen using the Bridge as a gateway. He betrays his alien masters and joins Brent, Alicia, and Lenny in a race against time to destroy the invasion fleet, leading to a climactic confrontation near the Sun where Brent must use the power of the Einstein Bridge to alter gravity to save humanity from the alien ships.
In the aftermath, Brent, Alicia, and Lenny face a moral dilemma when they realize the same powerful quantum technology used to save humanity would also inevitably lead to its destruction. They ultimately destroy access to it, realizing that humanity may not be ready for such advanced science.
The story concludes 16 years later on a distant planet light-years from Earth. Brent, Alicia, and their son, Ulysses, use the Einstein Bridge to teleport with hunter-gatherer villagers to establish a new, pre-science community safe from Earth’s tyrants and Western morality.
