This short was made with the intention of thanking the teachers at Colégio Sagrado Coração de Jesus, in Belo Horizonte, for their hard work during the pandemic period.

Director Biography - Beatriz Mendlovitz

Born and raised in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Beatriz Mendlovitz, is a high school student at Colégio Sagrado Coração de Jesus. She is on her way to the last year of high school at her current school and has everything set up to finish high school in the united states. Her project is to stay there to study filmmaker at college. Her passion for the area began in 2020 when, through a school project, students were assigned to present frames and color choices of the films defined by their teacher, Tony Labanca. The film responsible for everything was "we need to talk about kevin" a movie that she would be able to talk about for hours.

Director Statement

In 2021, seeing the teaching difficulties that teachers faced, I put together a presentation to honor and thank them for all the effort they made. The presentation took place at the school theater on 11/30/21 and was all directed by me, with musical performances and performance of a poem assembled by our group. The short film "education in the pandemic, an emotional distancing" was shown during this project, generating a positive repercussion throughout all the week. I was affectionately nicknamed Bia since i was a kid. I want to apply to schools in the United States with the aim of studying cinema and one day becoming a great director. This is one of many projects i have and the first one to come to real life. I’m very proud of it and hope y’all like as much as I did.
