Director Statement

Nate Raven and I first worked together on Abaddon the Destroyer (2024), where his ability to memorize not just his lines but the exact timing of his off-camera co-stars blew me away. When he showed me his script for Edgewise—a film where his character never speaks because he can’t get a word in edgewise—I knew we could pull it off because of him.

We filmed 15 pages across 10 locations in two days (no pickups), with a massive cast and an animal on set. Due to budget constraints, I doubled as director and production designer. The film is essentially a string of monologues, but with Nate's writing and hilarious reactions, our cast made every scene feel natural and dynamic.

I’m really excited to share this film with you—not just because of its ambitious logistics and phenomenal cast, but also because of its timely message about the importance of listening. Sometimes we become so consumed with ourselves that we forget about the rest of the world. Edgewise serves as a comedic reminder of that.

Special shoutout to our cinematographer, Ben Myrick, who created the documentary-esque style of the film and helped with color; Lauren Schroepfer (who also plays Lauren in the film), who ran sound and even donated her health bar to make dog poop for a scene; and my wife, Arielle Tinero-Felman, for capturing all of our BTS and supporting me on set.
