NYC Composer Chris Ianuzzi has been in a constant state of rapid evolution with his completely original synth-heavy electronica and post-punk hybrid sound. Unafraid to take bold creative risks, Ianuzzi has leaned into sonic experimentation while embracing new technologies such as artificial intelligence and Dolby Atmos production. His efforts are clearly paying off. His AI music video for "Lonesome Highway Superstar" has taken home several awards (Winner in Japan indies Music Festival - Best Electronica, Winner of Best Music Video in Movie Play International, Winner of Best Music Video in Filmnest International), and by the looks of his immersive visual for "Edge of the Earth", more accolades are incoming.
_____________
My interest in electronic music never waned after the sound of a Moog synthesizer at a music store triggered an earlier childhood hallucinogenic memory I first experienced during a dental procedure.
Highlights from my formal music training include a performance for the American Society for University Composers in which I played a piano using a chisel, rubber wedge and processed the sound through an ARP 2600.
For a number of years I served as an Electronic Creative Associate with the legendary Suzanne Ciani and her production house Ciani Musica. My early years also included work with Vangelis and ex-Tangerine Dream member Peter Baumann as well as work on Billboard chart-topping projects such as “AEIOU” by Freeze and “Way of Life” by The Puppets. During this time I developed my song writing skills and recorded two albums while touring Japan and Europe.
I returned to New York and scored for visual works in various media like orchestral and electronic sound design music for HBO’s “From the Earth to the Moon” series co-produced by Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, creating sound design and musical composition for a large interactive environment for Mastercard and themes for various A&E programs and channels.
I created an electronic songwriting and multimedia performance project called I, Synthesist. The first album, “Avalanche,” was released in 2004 and received a High Five in The German Alternative Charts and had songs in the top 10 of The French Alternative Charts. I, Synthesist was invited to play at the 2005 Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Leipzig, Germany and did a mini tour of Europe. Since then I released 3 I, Synthesist albums and 2 EP’s.
On Planeteria, I made a departure from my songwriting project and returned to instrumental forms of electronic music. Recently, I produced Maze and it’s a combination of song and instrumental pieces.
Though I have become a bit more grounded since my childhood psychedelic musical awakening, my creativity remains a driving force. Using classic analog synthesizers in conjunction with the most current digital technologies, my goal is to create immersive performances.
The new "Edgeof the Earth" music video was created in Collaboration with Ethem Serkan Sokmon and Ilke Kose.
The visuals were designed using Stable Diffusion and Deforum AI SD Animation Pipeline. These groundbreaking tools help us shape an array of mind-bending visuals that truly elevate this musical piece. Our digital canvas has been brought to life with a variety of AI renders from Deforum, each skillfully layered together using After Effects
Chris Ianuzzi's music is at once apocalyptic and devilishly fun, recklessly leaning into the untethered and unknown. His artistic expressions are challenging and tend to divide public opinion, which is what makes them so potent for those that 'get the message'.
