Echoes of the Suburbs
Inspired by Adolfo Bioy Casares's novella 'The Invention of Morel', 'Echoes of the Suburbs' is a future speculative fashion film exploring the dividing line between the realms of the conscious and unconscious.
Set in the near future on the outskirts of suburbia, we follow a woman as she navigates through an empty home, encountering ghost-like presence. As she moves through the empty house, this apparition become more and more entwined with her physical world, an echo of the future merging into her reality.
The film showcases works from emerging to mid-career Melbourne based fashion designers, who’s business models focus sustainability and community. The film is shot on a 360 degree camera that has been reframed creating physically impossible movements, and transcoded onto 16mm film.
