Chester was immersed in theatre as an actor, director and writer when he escaped the civil war in Sierra Leone to come to the UK in the mid 90s. Chester became a filmmaker when he studied and made his first short in 2000 in London, and a citizen journalist when he picked up a camera to investigate the British political, urban and social culture from 2003 to 2023. Chester is fascinated by a world of storytelling as he studied, made films and worked in various jobs observing the world around him. Chester’s films reveal a unique and captivating perspective of a world in constant political and social battles for freedom, justice, security and democracy. A world in constant turmoil and change. He has captured some moments in the history of politics in the UK and in Sierra Leone no other filmmakers had dared to document. In 2011, he founded CY Film Productions. His films did not only reveal the truth about the state of our political, social and economic world but are unique in it's characters, footage and storytelling. After graduating from the National film and television school (NFTS), where he studied Fiction Directing in 2006 and running his production company, Chester has made several independent films that sold to broadcasters around the world and premiered in many international film festivals, including the UK. He is in development of four feature films and two series. His recent films Earth Lion, Sudden Thunder (2023), a short martial arts action thriller series and his investigative feature documentary called The Great Schools Robbery (2022 - https://vimeo.com/290170689?share=copy) are to be released later in 2023. Chester is inspired to bring a new vision into the film industry with his work. To interpret what he has learnt and observed from following political uprisings in Africa and in Europe to great stories that will not only educate but also inspire and entertain a world audience.
We are completing the film at the end of May. We need to polish the music, colour grading, sound effects and mix.
This film is made by people who are inspired to make films that connect with a world wide audience and to entertain.
Over the past 23 years all my life have been about making films. I set out to make independent films that hit box office but I got so fascinated with finding true democracy, I went out to make documentaries that look at the way our world works. I am coming back to making fiction films to expand my work and audience. So, when Nuakai, a documentary filmmaker and aspiring actor who I mentored as a young man came to me to help him further his career in becoming an action hero, I took the opportunity to develop this film, bringing together a young crew and aspiring actors, to develop our skills and to push our own limits. The goal is to develop a series with the cast and crew to create the next generation of story tellers and stars. The film is made with a shoe string budget. It took three and half days to shoot. We did everything ourselves artistically and technically. I hope you enjoy the film and if you see potential in us, do help and encourage us to reach an audience and investors in your city. It would be a great opportunity for us to show the film and to network as well as get reacquainted with Toronto.
