GENERAL BASIS
Only works produced after January 1st, 2021 are eligible to enter the Festival competition.
Only films with a minimum duration of 5 minutes and a maximum duration of 90 minutes are eligible to enter the Festival competition.
Each director will be allowed to submit a maximum of two documentaries.
Films must be submitted in their original version. When original language is not Spanish, Spanish subtitles must be included or embedded in the digital file of the film.
The works will be assessed in relation to their capacity to foster reflection and critical thinking in general audiences, and their technical, aesthetic and scientific quality. Experimentation and innovation will also be valued positively.
Filmmakers who are involved in the festival organisation or films with touristic or advertising purposes will not be accepted in the festival competition.
SUBMISSION REGULATIONS
The deadline for submissions is 31st of July 2023 at 23:59 GMT.
By submitting your film or project to ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA, you are accepting these entry regulations, which may only be interpreted and implemented by the festival organization. These basis will be published in Spanish and English. May any doubts in their interpretation arise, the text of reference will be the Spanish one.
Submissions will be carried out online, through either www.clickforfestivals.com or www.filmfreeway.com, Applicants must complete all compulsory forms in those online platforms and upload the files, with the mandatory Spanish subtitles already embedded or attached.
MOVIES WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED IN HIGH DEFINITION SCREENING FORMAT DIGITAL FILES.
DVDS OR OTHER PHYSICAL FORMATS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Submissions or links sent via email will not be accepted, unless clearly requested through etnofest@etnografico.org due to restrictions in your geographic location, local conflicts or other similarly important causes.
Submissions to ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA are free of charge.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
• The Festival Direction will constitute a Selection Committee formed by film students, professional film makers and other experts who will view, analyse and assess all the works submitted.……………………………………………
• This Selection Committee will be in charge of selecting the films that will be part of the Official Section and the Castilla y León Section of the Festival program.
• Upon selection, filmmakers will receive an invitation email before the 8th of October 2023 (although, this date may be postponed according to the needs of the Organisation) asking for confirmation of acceptance of the invitation. Once their participation is confirmed, the Festival will publish the list of selected films on its web http://www.museo-etnografico.com.
• Selected filmmakers will then have to submit before the 20th of October 2023:
o a high definition screening copy of their film (the Festival will only accept files suitable for screening) with Spanish subtitles embedded
o title
o file format
o screen ratio
o sound format
o information for the catalogue.
• The original film submitted for screening must coincide exactly with the film submitted in the selection process. Failure to meet this requirement could result in the annulment of the invitation.
• Producers/distributors of selected films must also provide the Festival with a press kit containing:
o three photographs
o poster
o trailer
o any other additional materials which may be considered convenient for the Festival to promote the film properly
• Unfortunately, due to the large number of submitted films, ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA regrets not being able to provide comments, feedback or explanation to rejected film teams.…………………………………………………………..
• After film information has been included in the festival catalogue, films may not be unilaterally withdrawn from the competition.
• The Festival Direction will report to film owners or agents any irregularity found in the movie files and reserves the right to reject copies unsuitable for screening according to the assessment of the Festival technical department.
AUTHORIZATIONS
• Selected documentaries will be publicly screened free of charge during the festival.
• ETNOVIDEOGRAFICA is a small-budget festival. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay screening fees to filmmakers and all movies included in the Official Selection are therefore screened for free.
• Selected documentaries will be kept in the Festival archive and may be used for private viewing for educative and research purposes only.……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
• Selected documentaries will become part of the MECYL film archive. The museum will regulate their exhibition, screening and broadcasting, always for non-profit educational and cultural purposes, except if the applicant has declared the opposite on the subscription form. ……………………………………….………………………………………………
• The MECYL may screen submitted films after the festival in parallel programs, including not-selected materials which may be considered of interest. This will always be communicated to the filmmakers. ……………………..……………
• ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA 2023 – INTERNATIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC FESTIVAL is authorised to use a maximum of 3 minutes of video from each documentary for publicity and online purposes. ……………………………………………………
• After the finalization of the festival, ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA 2023 – INTERNATIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC FESTIVAL may use the selected works in exhibitions and cultural and educational programmes, always not-for-profit and having previously communicated it to the authors. ………………………………………..……………………………………
• Applicants are responsible for the authorship and originality of the films submitted, exempting the Festival from any responsibility about their contents.
