ESTRADAR- Mestre Gennaro and Fabiano Santana

Inspired by the unusual image of Europeans dancing the two traditional steps of forró in sumptuous concert halls or tourist landscapes, accompanied by the classic trio of accordion, zabumba and triangle, the filmmaker, recently arrived in the Old Continent, decided to immediately record what he believed be a phenomenon. “As soon as I saw it, I was enchanted and imagined it had potential. At first, I wanted to make a record of that movement that impacted me, and then I decided to go deeper and invest in a film ”, says Fred. The Pernambucan living in the Netherlands arrived in Berlin, capital of Germany, in 2016, and met Psiu! Forró Festival, responsible for the diffusion of Northeastern culture in the country, headed by Carlos Frevo, also from Pernambuco.

With exclusive soundtracks and reproduced classics, the narrative is stitched by the story of the Alagoan master Gennaro (ex-Trio Nordestino), who keeps alive the tradition of the King of Baião. It was from Flávio José that Fred came to him, who also collects partnerships with Jackson do Pandeiro and Dominguinhos and is a reference in forró, responsible for dozens of successes that have entered the history of the genre. Allied to the trajectory is also the young Fabiano Santana, born in Espírito Santo and passionate about the northeastern rhythm, who built a career mostly outside the country.
