ERICOVERO A deep history of the Pigneto neighborhood
“Ericovero” is a documentary about the discovery of a Roman hypogeum under a bar. This underground place witnessed different uses across the centuries: a pozzolana quarry, in the 1st century BC, a wine cellar in the 19th century and an anti-aircraft shelter during Second World War. Throughout history and stories, this hypogeum traces the events of of a popular Roman neighborhood known as Pigneto. Following the steps, from its rural origins to the demographic boom, we get to the heart of our narrative: the witness of those who, as children, sheltered in this hypogeum.
Through their voices we will relive the allied bombing and the battle for the liberation of Rome.
