ELEFTHEROTRIA

The cathedral of Panagia Eleftherotria.

This video is my tribute to the cathedral of Panagia Eleftherotria (Holy Mary Liberator) of Didymoteicho.
The Byzantine-style cathedral has a width of 28 meters, a length of 42 meters and a height of 35 meters.
His iconostasis, made by Amanatidis Panteleimon, is unique in Greece, with a length of 30 and a height of 5.5 meters, gilded entirely by special craftsmen from Romania's Iasi, with gold from Nuremberg, Germany.
The dome was constructed by Pavlos Sarfatis with tiles from Murano, Italy, while the frescoes by the painter-hagiographer Ioannis Sarsakis.
The late Metropolitan Nikephoros the 2nd who built it at the inauguration ceremony exclaimed "I beat you, Bayezid! " referring to the majestic mosque that Sultan Bayezid built in Didymoteicho in the 14th century.
The Church celebrates on October 28th.

Director Biography - Kostas Gur

Kostas is a scientist and an artist.
He was born in Didymoteicho, Evros, Thrace, Greece. After his studies in Computer Engineering (Bsc) and in Environmental Policies (Msc), Kostas discovered his great passion, aerial cinematography and photography. Over the past few years, Kostas has been focusing on aerial artistic creations with many wins and distinctions at international film festivals.
Kostas is also a "Skypixel Recomended Photographer" as he has been ranked among the world's best aerial creators from Skypixel.com, the biggest internet platform for sharing aerial artwork.
Kostas lives and creates in Athens, Greece.
