The Ecologico Film Festival presents itself as a unique cultural event that fuses the power of cinema with a profound reflection on human rights, coexistence and social sustainability. Now in its tenth edition, the festival aims to explore and promote dialogue between diversities, recognising the power of coexistence as an engine for social change.

1. Promotion, through cinema, of educational paths that help participants develop a sense of social coexistence.
2. Awareness-raising of teachers and students in lower and upper secondary schools on issues of ecological and social sustainability.
3. Promoting the dissemination of Social Engagement Cinema.

The core of the Festival
The core of the event is the ‘short film competition’, where filmmakers from all over the world present works of up to 10 minutes focusing on the theme of ‘coexistence’. These short films explore the challenges and opportunities emerging from cultural, economic and social diversity, stimulating a deep sense of empathy and understanding in the audience.

Jury
A distinctive feature of the festival is the involvement of a ‘student jury’ from local schools, which is in charge of evaluating the short films and choosing the winners. This innovative approach allows young people to be active players in the creative process, contributing to the realisation of a collective work, so the festival prize will be a collective film made from the winning short films.

Il nucleo dell'evento è rappresentato dal “concorso di cortometraggi”, dove filmaker da tutto il mondo presentano opere della durata massima di 10 minuti incentrate sul tema della "convivenza". Questi corti esplorano le sfide e le opportunità che emergono dalla diversità culturale, economica e sociale, stimolando un profondo senso di empatia e comprensione nel pubblico.

Giuria
Una caratteristica distintiva del festival è il coinvolgimento di una “giuria composta da studenti” delle scuole locali, che ha il compito di valutare i cortometraggi e scegliere i vincitori. Questo approccio innovativo permette ai giovani di essere protagonisti attivi nel processo creativo, contribuendo alla realizzazione di un'opera collettiva, pertanto il premio del Festival sarà un film collettivo realizzato con i cortometraggi che risulteranno vincitori.

Awards & Prizes

- The prize consists of participation in the production of a collective film, consisting of the winning short films and additional material created by the filmmakers during the festival. The collective film will be distributed internationally, offering participants a unique platform to give visibility to their work.
- Special Prizes: additional prizes offered by the Festival sponsors may be awarded for works that demonstrate a particular commitment to the themes of sustainability, creative innovation and inclusive storytelling.

Rules & Terms

1. Aims and objectives of the Festival
The Ecologico Film Festival is dedicated to short films that deal with the theme of ‘coexistence’ in all its facets, from social, cultural, ecological and economic relations to intergenerational coexistence. The festival aims to promote intercultural and social dialogue through cinema, using visual narration as a tool for reflection and change. The festival also wants to give space to stories that highlight dynamics of inclusion and sustainability, emphasising the importance of living together in harmony.

2. Categories and Duration
Short films, documentaries, animation and experimental films are eligible, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, including end credits. Works must explore the theme of ‘coexistence’, which can be interpreted in a direct, symbolic or allegorical manner. The festival welcomes works that reflect on how individuals, communities and cultures can live together in harmony, promoting profound dialogue and critical reflections on sustainable and inclusive living models.

3. Conditions of participation
- Requirements: filmmakers of any nationality and background, professional or emerging, may participate. The films must have been completed after 1 January 2023. There are no age limits for participating filmmakers, however, those under the age of 18 must enclose an authorisation to participate firmed by both parents.
- Exclusions: films that have already been commercially distributed or are available on public streaming platforms will not be accepted. Films must be presented as national or international premieres, in line with the policy adopted by international film festivals.
- Subtitles: all films presented in a language other than Italian must be provided with subtitles in English and Italian.

4. Entry procedure
- Entry: entries open on 3rd March 2024 and will close on 30st June 2025. The filmmakers must submit their works through the FilmFreeway platform, filling in the online entry form and providing a link to the film screener.
- Entry fee: Participation in the festival is subject to an entry fee:
o Early Bird: free for entries fixed until 15 April 2025.
o Regular Deadline: 5 euros for entries from 16 April to 30 June 2025.
- Format: films must be submitted in digital format (.mp4 or .mov), with a minimum resolution of 1080p.

5. Selection and Jury
- Jury: the films will be assessed by a jury composed of students from local schools, affianctified by experts in the film industry. This educational approach aims to directly involve young people in the creative and decision-making process. Evaluation criteria will include:
o Originality of the narrative.
o Relevance to the theme of coexistence.
o Social and emotional impact of the work.
- Award ceremony: the selected short films will be screened during the festival days. The winning films will be awarded with the opportunity to participate in a collective project that will bring together the best short films, enriched with special content, made during the festival itself.

Copyrights
Each filmmaker declares that he/she is the legal owner of the rights to the film and all audiovisual material included, including music, images and other third-party content. The festival disclaims all liability in the event of unauthorised use of copyrighted material.

.Feature
Copies supplied as projection files must have the following features: Codec H.264, 1080p, audio format AAC-LC Stereo. Short film files must not exceed 2Gb. No prores files will be accepted.
- It is specifically requested that films be subtitled in English (if not in English).
- The Festival reserves the right to re-file copies that do not comply with the above requirements.
- All works, both in Italian and non-Italian, must enclose subtitles in Italian and English (e.g.: .rtf, .srt, .xml, etc.) with timecode (in/out) conforming to the projection copy.
- Short synopsis of the film (700 characters maximum), Director's notes
- Short biography (700 characters maximum), and filmography of author/author
- Pressbook (if available)
- Link to downloadable trailer
- High-definition photo of the film and a photo of the director, possibly horizontal
- Use of the film: selected films may be used for promotional purposes by the festival, including excerpts (up to 2 minutes) for promotional activities.
The filmmakers authorise the screening of their films during the event and in festival-related contexts.
- Winning Films and Collective Work: the winning short films will be used for the realisation of a collective work. The filmmakers agree to grant rights for the use of their short film within the Festival production, without making financial claims for the distribution or use of the collective work. The authors retain the rights to their film, but authorise the festival to include their work in the collective film project and in related promotional activities.
- Acceptance of the Rules and Regulations: Registration for the festival implies full acceptance of these rules and regulations by the participants.

L'Ecologico Film Festival è dedicato a cortometraggi che trattano il tema della "convivenza" in tutte le sue sfaccettature, dalle relazioni sociali, culturali, ecologiche, economiche fino alla convivenza intergenerazionale. Il festival ha come obiettivo quello di promuovere il dialogo interculturale e sociale attraverso il cinema, utilizzando la narrazione visiva come strumento di riflessione e cambiamento. Il festival vuole anche dare spazio alle storie che mettono in luce dinamiche di inclusione e sostenibilità, ponendo l'accento sull'importanza del vivere insieme in armonia.

2. Categorie e durata
Sono ammessi cortometraggi di finzione, documentari, animazione e sperimentali, con una durata massima di 15 minuti, inclusi i titoli di coda. Le opere devono esplorare il tema della "convivenza", che può essere interpretato in maniera diretta, simbolica o allegorica. Il festival accoglie lavori che riflettono su come gli individui, le comunità e le culture possono convivere in armonia, promuovendo un dialogo profondo e riflessioni critiche su modelli di vita sostenibile e inclusivo.

3. Condizioni di partecipazione
· Requisiti: possono partecipare filmmaker di qualsiasi nazionalità e background, professionisti o emergenti. I film devono essere stati completati dopo il 1° gennaio 2023. Non ci sono limiti d'età per i registi partecipanti, i minori di 18 anni devono comunque allegare una autorizzazione alla partecipazione firmata da entrambi i genitori.
· Esclusioni: non saranno accettati film che siano già stati distribuiti commercialmente o che siano disponibili su piattaforme pubbliche di streaming. I film devono essere presentati come anteprime nazionali o internazionali, in linea con la politica adottata dei festival cinematografici internazionali.
· Sottotitoli: tutti i film presentati in una lingua diversa dall'italiano devono essere forniti di sottotitoli in inglese e italiano.

4. Modalità di iscrizione
· Iscrizione: le iscrizioni si aprono il 3 marzo 2025 e chiuderanno il 30 giugno 2025. I filmmaker devono inviare le loro opere tramite la piattaforma FilmFreeway, compilando il modulo di iscrizione online e fornendo un link per lo screener del film.
· Quota di iscrizione: La partecipazione al festival è soggetta a una quota di iscrizione:
o Early Bird: gratis per iscrizioni fino al 15 aprile 2025.
o Regular Deadline: 5 euro per iscrizioni dal 16 aprile al 30 giugno 2025.

o Attinenza al tema della convivenza.
o Impatto sociale ed emotivo dell’opera.
· Premiazione: i cortometraggi selezionati saranno proiettati durante le giornate del festival. I film vincitori saranno premiati con l'opportunità di partecipare a un progetto collettivo che riunirà i migliori cortometraggi, arricchiti da contenuti speciali, realizzati durante il festival stesso.

Diritti d'Autore
Ogni filmmaker dichiara di essere il legittimo detentore dei diritti del film e di tutto il materiale audiovisivo incluso, comprese musiche, immagini e altri contenuti di terze parti. Il festival declina ogni responsabilità in caso di utilizzo non autorizzato di materiale protetto da copyright.

· Film Vincitori e Opera Collettiva: i cortometraggi vincitori verranno utilizzati per la realizzazione di un'opera collettiva. I filmmaker accettano di concedere i diritti per l’utilizzo del loro cortometraggio all'interno della produzione del Festival, senza avanzare pretese economiche per la distribuzione o l'utilizzo dell'opera collettiva. Gli autori mantengono i diritti sui loro film, ma autorizzano il festival a includere il loro lavoro nel progetto cinematografico collettivo e nelle relative attività di promozione.
· Accettazione del Regolamento: l’iscrizione al festival implica l’accettazione completa del presente regolamento da parte dei partecipanti.

    In order to creative way to present personal point of view on the stage, to aware of problems that today plague every thinking person; to share a huge trouble with our same-minded colleagues: in Ukraine, bloody Russian occupation still continuing, there is a war; in the center of Europe, in 21 centuries children are dying... Let everyone ask themselves and the leaders of their countries: what else has to happen, what arguments are needed that Ukraine is finally given the necessary military aid for Victory?
