The man who lost his mind over his wife

A rolling coconut heralds misfortune for the inhabitants of Oxolotán and disrupts the night of Leonor and her children: Manuel, her husband, has lost his head after drunkenly betting it to Silvio, the town’s biggest scoundrel. The severed head changes owners until it reaches Chichí, the grandmother of Samuel, the taco vendor. Wandering the streets followed by onlookers, Leonor embarks on a nighttime search for the lost head and eventually retrieves it; but then she realizes that her effort has been hardly worth it. In the lottery of life, Manuel gambled and lost more than just his head.
