Autism Ability
"Autism Ability” displays the positive ways that autism has impacted my life. Documentary filmmaking is one of those positive impacts that gives me the opportunity to highlight my disability, as well as highlighting my abilities as a filmmaker. This project portrays the behind the scenes impact that autism has on my filming and filming has on my life.

Scott Klumb is a multi-award-winning autistic filmmaker. He is a storyteller, cinematographer, and editor, knowledgeable in a wide array of film styles, including documentary, where he creates artistic films with meaningful stories to captivate his audience. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Scott has found a passion for filmmaking, pursuing his talent both professionally and in his free time. Scott’s films have been in dozens of film festivals across the world. The notoriety has been encouraging but Scott’s primary focus is to inspire others and to continue his growth as a filmmaker.
I directed, filmed, and edited this short documentary. As an autistic person, my goal was to show the positives of being autistic and how I benefit from it as well as how it helps me with my career as a filmmaker. If it wasn't for being autistic, I don't believe I would have the vision I have for filmmaking, especially when it comes to editing. My editing is where things come to life and I wanted to give people a visually stunning experience when watching the cinematography and story edited to the music. When making my films I have found that our auditory and visual senses work together when watching to create a seamless and captivating experience. I believe as an autistic person I can visualize how I will edit things when filming and I can create something stunning and rememberable.
